In the sculptor’s work, the tambourine in the hands of the dancing woman is connected to solar symbolism, with its trajectory resembling the sun’s movement across the sky during the day. The expressive and wild gypsy from “Notre-Dame Cathedral” is captured in a dance. The movement of the naked, well-toned female torso with defined muscles seems to twist and turn two planes toward each other. The upper part is constructed with the head with flowing hair, arms, and the tambourine (golden, midday). The lower part is formed by the raised sweep of a long skirt (gray, midnight). As a result, when viewed from one angle, the sculpture widely expands in space like a fan, while from another perspective, it gets narrow, directed, cutting through space like a weapon. Time can be felt in its expansiveness, stretched like fabric, but it also rushes with tremendous speed, like a sharp blade.
