The artist plays with themes of shibari, the Japanese art of erotic bondage. However, the artistic and philosophical meaning of the work goes beyond this. The sculpture is built on the principles of attraction and repulsion. The characters are drawn towards each other, but the understanding of the forbidden nature of their feelings compels them to fight this desire. The ropes that bind them dig into their bodies, cutting into or merging with them. There is both intimate physical contact and conscious distancing. One wants to turn away and detach, but the head turns on its own. The line on the male's face is like a wave that has passed through the body as if it were a liquid substance, influenced by two opposing tendencies.
