"Reflections on The Little Prince" was the first sculpture that was placed in the Modern Sculpture Park in the courtyard of the Faculty of Philology at St. Petersburg University back in 2002. Harlequin is immersed in reading an antique tome with lines from Saint-Exupery ís book. One side of Harlequinís face reflects deep concentration and sadness, while the other reveals boyish guile. He sits atop a pile of books that hold the wisdom of humanity. Arsen Avetissian believed that The Little Prince lives in each one of us, and that the philosophical classic of Saint-Exupery is inexhaustible. The book can be read and reread time and time again, never failing to offer something new and dear to oneís heart.
The replica of the Little Prince figurine from "Reflections on The Little Prince" composition is awarded as a prize in the "Reflections on the Little Prince: The Planet of Books Discovery" project.
The goal of the project is to raise the prestige of reading in society and education, and to reward the best social and educational initiatives that promote children ís reading.
Since 2002, "Reflections on The Little Prince" is awarded in St. Petersburg to those who make reading exciting for children - teachers, librarians, writers, and business owners. Schools from Austria, Romania, Finland, Norway, Germany, Belgium, Moscow, and Saint Petersburg participate in this project.
