The artist was born in 1957 in Leningrad. Graduated from high art school at Academy of Arts and the Highest art and industrial school of V.I. Mukhina – faculty of modeling of clothes. Seven years worked in the Leningrad Fashion house of clothes. The talented fashion collection of the artist was highly appreciated on display in Munich. Sergey is known, first of all, as the distinguished painter and the masterly drawer. The classical ballet is a longtime love of the artist. He addresses its intimate part, displaying not scenic, but secret life of ballerinas, investigating origin and formation of dance; he often attends ballet rehearsals at the Mariinsky Theater.
Bakin is a member of the Union of artists of Russia, the creative union (IFA), the St. Petersburg Society of Pastel Painters. Member of the French society of pastelist. Winner of Art du Pastel en France of 2012. He is actively taking part at the exhibitions from the middle of the 80th in the cities of Russia and abroad: about 200 group and personal exhibitions. In 1995-1996 he was the participant of the Druo auction (France). Works in technique of oil painting, a watercolor, pastel and ceramics. Works of the author can be found in the State Museum collections “Tsarskoye Selo collection” (Pushkin), in Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Karelia (Petrozavodsk), Museum of Fine Arts of Arkhangelsk, the Museum of Modern Art Erarta (St. Petersburg) and also in private collections in Russia, USA, France, Sweden, England, Germany and other countries.
