Evgeny Burkov was born on December 13, 1975 in the city of Ulan-Ude. Graduated from middle and art schools in 1992. In 1992-94 studied painting in the Buryat State College of Culture and Arts painting (Ulan-Ude). In 1995-96 studied at the Institute of Culture and Arts on the faculty of painting (Ulan-Ude).
From 1996 to 1999 — training at the Krasnoyarsk State Art Institute (faculty of painting). 1999–2001 — had a course at the Institute of I.E. Repin. In 2001 — revenues in institute of I.E. Repin to faculty of a sculpture. Since 2006 became the candidate for members of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists of Russia. 2007 — the winner of the creative competition “Russian Hunting”. In 2007 defended his thesis “Mikula Selyaninovich”. From same year worked in a creative workshop of a sculpture of the Russian Academy of Arts under the leadership of the academician G.D. Yastrebenetsky.
Since 2009 is a member of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists of Russia. 2009 — installation of a monument to the inventor of radio A.S. Popov (St. Petersburg). Constantly participates in the St. Petersburg exhibitions and also in Moscow, Samara, Saransk, Budapest, Vienna. In 2010 – personal exhibition in Porvo (Finland). Participated in a number of competitions on creation of monuments: “To students and teachers of the university, who died in days of the Second World War”, to “The victims of concentration camps”, “Children of war”, “General Bagration”, “Home front workers”, “The Bashkir soldiers of 1812”., etc.
Evgeny Burkov is the master of mythological subject. Pagan gods and heroes, epic athletes combine symbolical and at the same time live, realistic lines. In the same way he treats sculptures of animals, in which image Burkov reached great skills. Images of his bears, bulls, wild boars, horses contain elements of symbolical and philosophical stylization, but at the same time each animal wonderfully keeps biological naturalness and dynamics.
